Saw an interesting post on LifeHacker today that inspired me to view my Resume (CV) in a different light. I have recently been dusting off my resume and exploring my personal brand in pursuit of moving to the next step of my professional career. Putting my CV through the ringer, courtesy of TagCrowd produced the following Tag Cloud....
.....perhaps a bit heavier on the network & support and lighter on the VMware & datacenter then I would have thought, but overall a pretty cool view of my resume/personal brand.
I am convinced that visual data models will continue to become more and more common as data analysis is more readily available to everyday people. This model of my resume definitely caught my attention and made me more aware of the message that I am conveying to potential recruiters. It just took a different way to look at it.
It is my belief that messaging to recruiters makes such a difference, that I typically create different resumes based on the job role being pursued. I thought it would be interesting to create another tag cloud, this time with a resume catering towards a Citrix Consulting role for a multi-national. Was I effective in the messaging? It makes one think.
