Rhys’ Baptism
Rhys was baptized on Sunday at St. Pius X catholic church here in Appleton. It was such a nice day. The whole weekend was awesome actually. Gabe’s sister Sarah flew in from DC on Thursday. She was here in time for Gabe and I to go out to a nice dinner. We also had tickets to see the Soweto Gospel Choir from South Africa. They were absolutely amazing!!! My dad got in to town the next day. The girls had so much fun with Auntie Sarah and Papa. They were so sad to see them leave. Ellie tried to go home with both of them. Gabe’s dad and stepmom surprised us by coming in to town Saturday. We went from thinking we weren’t going to have any family here to having several relatives. What a blessing! I know that Rhys will not remember the day but it was truly special that all these people could be a part of his special day. Rhys’ godparents are Nikos and Kristin Efthimiou. Gabe and Nikos met through soccer and became great friends. We also had several of my church friends attend the baptism. The catholic – methodist, mixed marriage has always been difficult. It is always hard for me to baptize the kids at the catholic church and not have my pastor be involved. I am so grateful to have a wonderful church family that is willing to attend the baptism. Deacon Rick even gave the Korb kids special tasks during the service. Here are a few pictures from the big day. And, yes, Rhys is wearing a “dress”. This is the same baptismal gown that Victoria, Ellie and my nephew Luke wore. My mom had her wedding dress made into a baptismal gown with coat and hat. It means even more to us since she passed away. She was still with us when Victoria was baptized so she did get to see the beautiful gown worn. Now my dad has been driving it around the U.S. seeing all of his grandchildren baptized. It is so special for my sister and I. I feel like our mom is right there with us at the baptism.

Rhys is 3 months old
I have been on mad blog lately so if you haven’t checked in a while you will want to scroll down. On the 14th Rhys was 3 months old. He is getting so big and I do mean big. He is wearing mostly 6-9 month clothes. This is so different for me because Victoria wore the size for the age she was at (3-6 months when she was 3-6 months) and sometimes even smaller and Ellie wears a size smaller than her age. Hopefully this means that Rhys inherited the tall genes that do exist in my family and Gabe’s family. So, what is Rhys doing at 3 months. He smiles all the time at us. He loves to have people talk to him and he will talk back. He doesn’t like to be left alone. If you do set him down for even 1 second, he will cry. Other than that, he is quite a content baby. Rhys’ big accomplishment is that he can pull himself to a sitting position if you hold his hands. He also sleeps through the night, sort of. Usually he wakes up at 4am which is a little early for me but he does go back to sleep. I feel so truly blessed to have such beautiful, healthy children. It can be tiring and frustrating at times but it is so worth it when I just look at them smiling back at me. Here are a few pics of the “little” guy

Family Fall Fun!
Now that soccer is coming to an end and the marathon is over, Gabe had a little free time to join us at a local apple orchard that also has a pumpkin patch. It is nothing to fancy..no hayrides but the pumpkin patch is fun none the less. We went on a weekday about 40 minutes before closing so we had the whole pumpkin patch to ourselves. The girls had a great time running through all the pumpkins trying to find the perfect one. Victoria is going on a field trip later this month with her K class to get her pumpkin so she was in charge of Rhys’ pumpkin considering that he slept through the whole experience. After getting the pumpkins we headed into the apple orchard. Ellie was hysterical. She was grabbing apples off the tree, taking one bite and throwing it on the ground. She saw Gabe do that with a couple of bad apples so she assumed that was the process. The problem was she threw perfectly yummy apples on the ground. Gabe and I love this time of year…the leaves are changing and it is cold enough for sweatshirts but not too cold. We had such a great time. It was so much fun to do something as a family without time constrictions. I think we will always plan to go on a weekday.

Tummy time is not the most fun for Rhys but I usually can get him to lie there for a little bit. He actually is starting to enjoy it more now that he can lift hi head more. It is so fun to watch him squirm around and explore things. His lille legs really get moving which makes me realize that it won’t be long and he will be crawling…wow!!!

For the past 18 weeks Gabe has diligently been training for the Lakefront Marathon running from Grafton, WI down to Milwaukee. Although he ran the Fox Cities half marathon two years ago, this is his first full marathon. He wanted to run this one because of our connection to Milwaukee. For those of you that don’t know, Gabe and I both graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee. It was where we met each other and began this journey that now includes three children. So last Saturday, October 4th, we headed to Milwaukee. The girls were so excited for the big adventure. They have been keeping track of Gabe’s running. Every morning they would say, “dad, you go running?”. We stayed in a hotel. The girls love hotels. We were on the 17th floor. The elevator had glass windows so you could watch your ascent and descent. The girls thought that was the coolest thing. Mom did not exactly like being up so high. Gabe headed out Sunday morning to catch the shuttle to the start line about 6am. The kids and I got ready, went to breakfast and headed to mile 10 of the race. We wanted to see Gabe along the course and cheer him on. When he ran the 1/2 marthon, I missed him at every stop we made including the finish line. The girls were so excited to see Gabe and after waiting 45 minutes he came around the bend. He gave the girls high five’s. I got teary eyed that we actually saw him. After that we headed to Trader Joes to do a little shopping and then to Brian & Courtney’s for Julia’s first birthday party. I left the girls there and Rhys and I headed to the finish line. We made it in time to see Gabe come across the finish line. Yes, that’s right, he did it!!! He finished in 4 hours, 35 minutes. I am so proud of him and so happy we could be there to witness his finish. Rhys was sleeping but I know he’s proud of his dad. Here are a few pics….
